AIM Framework glossary

Content-Mechanism Boundary

Canonical definition

The Content-Mechanism Boundary is the distinction between inheriting M-outputs as content (which AI does, through training on human-generated text saturated with prestige associations, Status hierarchies, and social-proof weightings) and generating new M-contagion through architectural transmission (which AI cannot do, due to absence of the preconscious mirror-neuron-to-valuation-circuit pathway).

Explanation

AI reproduces the distributional patterns of M-dynamics as statistical regularities without generating new M-contagion because it lacks the biological transmission channel. This boundary is the precise feature that makes AI useful as a comparator for isolating M-contributions to human cognition: the AI has the content, it lacks the mechanism, and the divergence between content-presence and mechanism-absence is the diagnostic window.
