Evidence-Coupling Matrix
Canonical definition
Evidence-Coupling Matrix (). The Evidence-Coupling Matrix is the cross-Individual adjacency matrix governing the strength with which Individual 's emitted Evidence proposition enters Individual 's Belief Register, with for all . The diagonal is the Self-Coupling Permanence term, which is strictly positive and structurally irreducible. The off-diagonal block contains the interpersonal couplings, and its spectral radius enters the network loop gain as .
Explanation
The Evidence-Coupling Matrix is the formal expression of Coupling Strength at the network scale. Where the scalar Coupling Strength describes a domain-level average, the Evidence-Coupling Matrix describes the directed, weighted, dyadic structure of who treats whom as a source of Evidence. The diagonal carries the Self-Coupling Permanence floor that no intervention can remove; the off-diagonal block carries the policy-modifiable interpersonal couplings whose spectral structure determines the network-scale Critical Coupling Strength. Patch-competent Evidence intake reduces the effective off-diagonal weights without altering the underlying graph topology, which is the fourth channel of the Knowledge Patch's network-scale formalisation.
