Ignition Gain
Canonical definition
Ignition Gain is the parameter α in the fast valuation system specified in Appendix A, denoting the coupling coefficient from observed Model goal signals m_obs(t) to the preconscious mimetic channel M(t). α reflects the efficiency of the perceptual-to-goal substrate identified in Axiom 7 (Preconscious Transmission). It is a structural property of human cognition, not an intervention parameter. α > 0 is a structural boundary condition of any Individual who perceives other Individuals.
Explanation
The Ignition Gain is how efficiently the brain's perception machinery converts seeing someone else pursuing something into a preconscious pull toward that thing. It is a feature of how we are wired. We cannot turn it down without rewiring the perceptual-to-goal substrate itself, which the framework neither can nor wants to propose. As long as Individuals perceive other Individuals, α is non-zero.
