Positive Mimesis Preservation Principle
Canonical definition
**The Positive Mimesis Preservation Principle holds that because Positive Mimesis (cultural learning, emotional synchronisation, prosocial modelling and collaborative coordination) operates through the same preconscious transmission architecture as Negative Mimesis and requires non-zero Coupling Strength to function, the normative target is not the elimination of M or of coupling but Optimal Coupling Strength, in the band 0 < κ* < κ_c.**
Explanation
The channel that lets a child learn a language by watching, or a community coordinate without negotiating, is the channel that produces rivalry, and there is no version of a person that keeps the first and lacks the second. A proposal to remove Mimetic Desire is therefore a proposal to remove cultural learning with Mimetic Desire. What can be done is to manage the conditions under which the channel runs, so that its output is Positive Mimesis rather than Negative Mimesis and coupling stays below the level at which Beliefs lock in regardless of Truth.
Epistemic status
Framework-Specific Principle. Derived from Axioms 1, 5 and 7.
Derivation
Chapter 8, Section 8.15.2 (the incoherence of M-elimination); Chapter 14 for the Optimal Coupling Strength band.
