Social Constitution Corollary

Canonical definition

The Social Constitution Corollary is the result, derived from Preconscious Transmission, Common-Currency Integration, the Data Processing Inequality, and the relational embedding of the Self-Model, that the Individual's cognitive system is partly constituted by, not merely influenced by, the full relational field of Models, intimates, rivals, aversive figures, and fleeting encounters, such that no non-social baseline of valuation or Self-Modelling is architecturally available and the magnitude of social constitution is unrecoverable through introspection.

Explanation

Other people do not just influence how you think and want; they help build the cognitive system that does the thinking and wanting. This includes everyone you have a relationship with (positive, negative, intimate, rivalrous, or fleeting) and you cannot tell from the inside how much of your sense of self and your wanting was put there by them, because the brain destroys the labels that would let you trace it.

Epistemic status
