AIM Framework glossary

Violence-enabling goods and channels

Canonical definition

Violence-enabling goods and channels are the resources, tools, environments, and communication pathways that, in a given context, strongly amplify A-harm or M-escalation risks, such as weapons, access to victims, inflammatory media, or high-theatre stages for rivalry.

Explanation

Guns, doxxing platforms, live-streamed grievance rituals, and unsupervised access to vulnerable people all count as violence-enabling when they make it easy to turn appetitive strain or mimetic tension into real harm. Cascading Consequences focuses on restricting these levers first, while still guaranteeing food, shelter, health care, and non-weaponisable I-activities.

Epistemic status
