AIM Framework glossary

Access Pathway Function of the Knowledge Patch

Canonical definition

The Access Pathway Function of the Knowledge Patch is the architectural role of the Knowledge Patch as the common prerequisite of all five channels in the reduction programme of Appendix A.5.7.7 for the Total Stability Condition (Appendix A.5.7.4). The Patch does not reduce any channel parameter by itself; the Patch opens the introspective-proxy pathway through which the other four Individual-scale channel reductions become operative and the institutional-scale fifth channel becomes recognisable. Captured by the intravenous-line analogy at Chapter 18, Section 18.1.

Explanation

The Patch is like the IV line a hospital inserts before administering a medicine the patient cannot take by other means. The line does not cure anything. What it does is open the route by which the cure can be given. Without the line, the cure cannot reach the patient. Without the Patch, none of the other four interventions the AIM Framework recommends can reach the Individual.

Epistemic status

Framework-Specific Construct. Derived from the five-channel Knowledge Patch footprint of Appendix A.5.7.7.

Derivation

Chapter 18, Section 18.1.
