Aggregate Net Mimetic Position (Aggregate NMP)

Canonical definition

Aggregate NMP is the sum of an Individual's Net Mimetic Position across all of that Individual's mimetic transactions, over time and across Object categories. It is the Individual's actual mimetic balance: signal acquired minus extraction incurred. Aggregate NMP and Status systematically diverge. Status tracks the signal, which crosses the Observability Boundary, while Aggregate NMP tracks the cost, which is extracted below it. Two Individuals of identical Status can therefore hold radically different Aggregate NMP, and the gap between the two measures is the space in which parasitic extraction operates undetected.

Explanation

Net Mimetic Position scores one purchase: what it bought in standing against what it cost in extraction. Aggregate NMP is the running total over a whole economic life. Two people who look equally successful can sit at opposite ends of this total, because what others see is the signal and what they do not see is the bill.

Epistemic status
