Doubt Generation
Canonical definition
Doubt Generation is the primary mechanism by which the Knowledge Patch operates, producing a non-zero interference term in a Belief system that has decohered onto a dominant false prior (Hauthentic). Formally, doubt is the condition where the Individual's Belief state has non-zero amplitude on more than one Hypothesis direction simultaneously, which is the non-zero Interference Term. The Knowledge Patch generates doubt through high-likelihood-ratio signals: the Two-Question Diagnostic generates individual-level doubt by producing observations more probable under Hmimetic than under Hauthentic; Behavioural Signatures generate confirmatory doubt through longitudinal observation; the Presumption Against Scapegoating generates collective-level doubt by producing observations more probable under Hsystemic than under H_scapegoat. Without doubt, without a non-zero interference term, subspace expansion is inert: the new Hypothesis is available but cannot accumulate probability mass because the system is in a pure state.
Explanation
Doubt Generation is the core job of the Knowledge Patch, creating genuine uncertainty where false certainty has locked in. Until you doubt your own explanation for why you want something, no amount of new vocabulary or diagnostic tools can help. The Knowledge Patch works by making you genuinely unsure, then giving you better categories to sort the uncertainty into.
