AIM Framework glossary
Abstraction Layer
Canonical definition
A level of abstraction from an Object. The unit of Abstraction Layering. Each Abstraction Layer mediates between participants and the Object beneath it, generating a substrate-narrative that makes the Object legible to participants whose introspective access to their own valuation sources has been destroyed by Decision Hub integration.
Explanation
An Abstraction Layer is a level of abstraction sitting between a participant and the Object the participant is dealing with. The Object is the thing that actually does the A-or-I work: the dwelling that shelters, the food that feeds, the tool that enables the practice, the company that produces. The layer is whatever sits between participant and Object: the share over the company, the mortgage over the dwelling, the brand over the manufactured good, the credential over the competence.
