Divergent-Path Pre-Loading
Canonical definition
Divergent-Path Pre-Loading is the second channel of the Pre-Loading Mode: the installation of a standing prior that down-weights the default evidential contribution of a Model's expressed Belief to the Individual's own updating. Mechanically it is a Coupling Strength reducer (it lowers the degree to which another's expressed Belief functions as endogenous evidence) and it is the within-Individual installation mechanism of Patch-competent Evidence intake: the network channel by which Patch-competent receivers attenuate the weight assigned to neighbours' emitted Evidence propositions, reducing the off-diagonal Evidence-coupling spectral radius, presupposes a standing prior at the receiver, and the Divergent-Path Prior is that prior. Its distinctive contribution is that it renders Epistemic Suspension non-adversarial: the Individual withholds adoption not by judging the speaker wrong but by acknowledging information-asymmetry (paths through information space differ, so the expressed Belief is evidence about the speaker's path, not directly about the Referent), which removes the implied-verdict cost that otherwise makes sustained suspension socially expensive. The channel is bounded by the Testimony Floor and, its Referent being partly exogenous, is durable but not self-locking (see Endogenous Stabilisation, asymmetry note).
Explanation
A standing Belief about other people's opinions: an opinion tells you, first of all, where its holder has been (what they happened to read, see, and hear, in what order) and only secondarily what the world is like. Holding this lets you decline to adopt a Belief without calling anyone wrong: you're not doubting them, you're noticing that their journey isn't yours. That makes "I don't know yet" affordable to say and to mean.
Epistemic status
Framework-Specific Construct. Derived consequence of Axiom 8 and the path-dependence of Belief (non-commutative evidence encounter); first-person adoption of the path-dependence result. Not an additional axiom.
