Endogenous Feedback

Canonical definition

Endogenous Feedback is the condition in which the Evidence an Individual or a population receives is shaped by the Beliefs under test, through what the holder attends to, seeks out, recalls, interprets, says and does, so that the Evidence is co-produced by the Prior rather than generated by the Referent, and updating on it reinforces the Prior whether or not the Prior is true. Explanation. Endogenous Feedback removes the second condition of the Washing-Out Principle, and it runs by three routes. Within an Individual it runs through recall, which returns the Individual's own Beliefs as Evidence. Between Individuals it runs through expression, each stated Belief arriving at others as Evidence. Through action it reaches the Referent itself: depositors' withdrawals make a solvent bank insolvent. An Individual who believes they are driven by achievement seeks achievement-shaped settings, reads ambiguous outcomes as achievement-relevant and remembers the successes, so the Evidence confirms the Belief whatever its Truth. Confabulation is Endogenous Feedback on Source Beliefs.
