Exception-Handling Analogy

Canonical definition

The Exception-Handling Analogy is the reading of Confabulation through software exception handling, in which an untraced change elsewhere in a program that keeps raising an exception corresponds to the distributed causes no default completion reaches: the Mimetic Premium raising the cost of the A-Floor (the A-Floor Erosion Principle), and valuations passed between Individuals by Preconscious Transmission and compounding across a reference group as the Confabulation Cascade. The exception corresponds to the open question those causes produce, a felt lack or felt threat whose cause the Thinker's Hypothesis Space does not hold. The handler corresponds to the ground-attribution the Thinker's Ground-Resolution returns, agent-shaped where the Agent-Based Causal Default supplies the completion and agentless in the Intractability Confabulation, which satisfies the demand for Cognitive Closure and ends the search before a systemic candidate is built. In either shape the completion runs away from the Mimetic ground. Because the handler resets the loop without touching the untraced change, the exception recurs; because the handler's attribution is restated on every cycle and each restatement lowers the Interference Term, each run makes the correct diagnosis harder, which corresponds to technical debt (Type II Exclusion). The Exception-Handling Analogy licenses recognition of the pattern and not inference about its causes, and fails at three points: the handler has no author, the architecture keeps no stack trace of which source produced a valuation, and the Exception-Handling Analogy supplies no rate and no threshold.

Explanation

When a program hits an error nobody can trace, a programmer may add a handler that catches the error so the program keeps running. If the real fault is a slow change somewhere else in the code, the error keeps coming back, and every handler added makes the real fault harder to find. Blaming a scapegoat, or deciding that a problem is too complex for anyone to understand, works the same way. Either ends the search and lets life carry on, while the real cause, such as status competition pushing up the cost of essentials, or attitudes passing from person to person without anyone noticing, carries on too, and the trouble comes back looking for a new target.
