Intractability Confabulation

Canonical definition

The Intractability Confabulation is the Confabulation form in which Ground-Resolution, closing on an Information Gap that exceeds the computational tractability of the available framework, returns the narrative that the phenomenon under study is too complex to be properly modelled, thereby discharging the explanatory demand without identifying any agent, while collapsing the prior on solvability to zero and installing a self-sustaining Bayesian Flywheel in which every subsequent explanatory failure is processed as further evidence for intractability (Axiom 8, Content-Agnostic Processing).

Explanation

The Intractability Confabulation is the agentless sibling of scapegoating. Where scapegoating fills the Information Gap by naming a person or group as cause, the Intractability Confabulation fills it by declaring that no cause can be named in principle. Both are generated by the same narrative-closure mechanism operating under the same architectural constraints, and both leave the root cause unaddressed. The Intractability Confabulation is preferred in educated and professional contexts because it carries no reputational risk and is phenomenologically indistinguishable from epistemic humility. It is diagnostically separable from genuine epistemic humility by the status of the prior on solvability, genuine humility leaves this prior undisturbed, the Intractability Confabulation collapses it to zero. Once collapsed, the Content-Agnostic Processing of Bayesian updating guarantees that the claim becomes self-sustaining, because every failure to explain is routed through the prior it is supposed to test.

Epistemic status

Framework-Specific Construct, derived from Axiom 4 (Confabulation), Axiom 8 (Bayesian Belief Dynamics), and the Information Gap Principle.
