Information-Cascade Amplification Effect
Canonical definition
The Information-Cascade Amplification Effect is the mechanism whereby PM-captured information infrastructure actively accelerates Confabulation Cascade convergence toward the criticality threshold (Pc), because editorial incentives optimised for M-engagement, rather than A-I function, produce systematically PM-inflated reference points that synchronise cascade direction across the population, with each cycle of PM-inflated reference-point propagation generating demand for further PM-captured information, creating a recursive amplification loop. At the network scale (Appendix A.5.7.5), the Information-Cascade Amplification Effect is the architectural consequence of the network-density dependence of the critical threshold: a denser graph of Evidence couplings has a larger spectral radius at any given per-edge coupling weight, which carries the population toward the Critical Coupling Strength without moving it, and a denser graph of observation raises and lowers the threshold itself, both without any change in per-Individual receptivity. The density dependence holds while the Thinker's intake budget is slack; where it binds, the spectral radius is fixed by the budget, and the Effect operates by capturing a larger share of that budget for PM-captured channels rather than by density as such (Appendix A.5.7.4).
Explanation
When news, social media, and prestige publications are captured by PM, when they make money by grabbing your attention through status anxiety and comparison triggers rather than by informing you, they do not just fail to help. They actively make crisis dynamics worse, because the content they push is selected to trigger your mimetic systems, which inflates the reference points you use to evaluate everything else, which makes PM worse everywhere, which generates more demand for navigating PM-inflated markets, which drives you back to the same PM-captured channels. The amplification loop has no natural stopping point.
