Insincerity
Canonical definition
Insincerity is a report the Individual holds to be false, made because the Individual has calculated that it serves the Individual better than an honest report. Insincerity is rational insofar as that calculation is made, and it is knowing in its content and confabulated in its ground. Where the Individual enjoys the duping itself, the lowering of the one deceived is the gain, and the Insincerity is also Malice. Insincerity lies outside the Sincerity Guarantee, which covers reports of ground, and like Malice it is the special case. The rationality of an act says nothing of its Ethical standing.
Explanation
Insincerity is saying what you know is false because you have worked out that it pays. Some people enjoy fooling others for its own sake, and then the lie is also malice. Most false things people say are not lies: they are sincere explanations that happen to be wrong.
