AIM Framework glossary
Physical-Reality Channel
Canonical definition
The Physical-Reality Channel is the evidential route by which physical reality constrains a Belief. It is not a fourth motivational source: the Three-Source Taxonomy is exhaustive over motivation, and the Physical-Reality Channel carries evidence rather than drive, so the Referent Abandonment elimination requires four closures rather than three. The Physical-Reality Channel is closed by the availability of a decohered Referent, physical reality having already returned its verdict and made it accessible, and that closure is distinct from the I-channel's, which is closed by the decoherence of content. The channel an interested party invokes in defence of a Belief is not the one the Referent closes. A Belief whose evidence arrives only through the coupled expression of other Individuals has no contact with the Physical-Reality Channel, and its certainty is supplied by circulation rather than by any test.
Explanation
This is the route by which reality gets a say. Some Beliefs are exposed to it: there is a test, someone can run it, and what comes back does not care who believes what. Others are not exposed to it at all, and are held up entirely by other people holding them. The channel is not a fourth thing a person can want. It is the difference between a Belief that can be checked and a Belief that can only be echoed.
