AIM Framework glossary
Right
Canonical definition
A right, in AIM, is the standing claim against the harm that would otherwise coerce: the protected negative space of A-harm, I-harm, or M-harm. Rights are derived, not granted; each names the condition whose absence would make a choice unfree.
Explanation
Because coercion is the overriding of intrinsic evaluation by A-harm, I-harm, or M-harm, each right is the protected condition whose removal would coerce. The three source-specific rights (A-rights, I-rights, M-rights) and their correlative duties follow directly; stated together as a single standing of the person, they are Dignity.
