Transmission Attenuation Principle

Canonical definition

Because category-construction and relative-position computation occur in the Thinker, and because the priors fixing category-content are generationally and culturally transmitted rather than architecturally fixed, an Individual equipped with status-dynamic understanding can act on the construction itself. The Transmission Attenuation Principle operates through two channels. (a) Computation-side (κ-reduction): I-Override at the Thinker attenuates the relative-position output at the moment of computation, lowering the practitioner's coupling strength κ by declining to treat expressed positioning as evidence. (b) Reception-side transmission: because category-priors are inherited at reception rather than emitted by force, living Thinkers computing at lowered κ alter the baseline prior available to be received by new Thinkers, shifting the inherited starting condition across generations. The Transmission Attenuation Principle is the transmission-side complement to Subcriticality Maintenance: the latter manages an Individual's current coupling; this manages what the next generation of Thinkers inherits as baseline. It is governed by two named clauses (Reception-Only Clause, Status-Seeker Demerit Clause) and bounded below by the Mimetic Premium Floor Corollary.

Explanation

All the ranking happens inside the thinking mind, and the baselines we inherit were simply handed down and taken as given. But because it happens in the mind, anyone who understands status dynamics can work on them directly, first by not chasing status themselves, which lowers their own susceptibility, and second by living that way so the next generation inherits a lower baseline. It is self-reinforcing: in a group that thinks this way, someone obviously chasing status is seen as low-status for doing it, so the audience they need simply withholds the admiration. And you don't announce any of this, you just quietly think less of the behaviour and move on. The moment you announce "you're a status-seeker," you're making your own status play, so the method polices itself. People already notice that politics, and in-group and out-group feeling generally, swings back and forth like a pendulum. This is why. Each time someone pushes another group down and pulls their own up, they feed energy into that swing, and a counter-push from the other side is just more energy, which is why the swinging continues. The pendulum has no motor of its own; it moves only because people keep applying force to it. So the only way to stop it swinging is to decline to push or pull it at all, to withhold the energy, privately, and not feed the oscillation. That is what the silent attribution does: it adds no force. Reception-Only Clause. The intervention acts at reception only, never by overwrite. An Individual cannot install a lowered prior in another's Thinker; they can only be a received instance of one. The intervention therefore has no coercive form and cannot be captured into a status-coercion of its own. Status-Seeker Demerit Clause. In a population of lowered-κ Thinkers, conspicuous status-seeking via Confabulation is itself computed as a low relative position, so the audience on which Mimetic Premium accrual depends confers a discount rather than a premium, attenuating accumulated PM independently of the seeker's own conduct. Because the demerit attaches to audience-dependence rather than to content, performed humility is demoted by the same computation (Audience-Removal Test). The valid form of this attribution is the silent private attribution: the observer privately registers low status and declines to confer, without externalising. Any voiced accusation of status-seeking is itself an audience-dependent bid and is self-invalidating under the same diagnostic. Private Persistence is therefore the shared criterion that both identifies status-seeking in the target and validates the non-status character of the observer's response, capture requires externalisation, and externalisation is self-defeating under the same test. Falsification (trajectory-based). Because correct application is silent and leaves no observable enforcement trace, criteria centre on aggregate outcomes, not visible behaviour. (1) Populations with rising AIM-vocabulary penetration should show a measurable decline in the premium accruing to conspicuous status-seekers relative to craft-led actors, within observable timeframes; falsified by no aggregate premium-discount despite documented vocabulary penetration. (2) The discount should correlate with orthogonally-laundered status-lowering (pseudo-descriptive rank attacks) decreasing as a share of discourse, not increasing; falsified by laundered status-lowering rising alongside vocabulary penetration. (3) The intervention should show no correlation with visible "calling-out" enforcement events, since correct application produces none; measured reliance on public accusation would indicate capture, not operation. (4) Cross-generationally, communities sustaining the practice should exhibit a lowered inherited baseline (new entrants computing at lower κ on entry); falsified by each generation reverting to the prior baseline despite sustained adult practice. No criterion requires terminal-state observation, consistent with the standing falsification protocol.
