Class 2 Intervention

Canonical definition

**Class 2 Intervention is an intervention on a coupling whose magnitude enters the loop gain, at whichever layer that coupling sits. Class 2 interventions reduce the stability-determining gain directly. At the fast layer the channels are the three parameters of the Internal Loop Gain G ≡ κS·β·γ·σ'(V*) of the fast valuation system specified in Appendix A: β reduction via the Knowledge Patch (Chapter 18), γ reduction via Observability-feedback governance, and κS reduction via Salience engineering. At the slow Bayesian layer they are the Restriction-Induced Concentration Factor, reduced by AIM Vocabulary Acquisition, and the Evidence-Emission Coefficient, reduced by Epistemic Suspension (Appendix A, Section A.5.6). At the network layer the channel is the Evidence-Coupling Matrix, whose off-diagonal spectral radius is reduced by Patch-competent Evidence intake (Appendix A, Section A.5.7.4). Class 2 interventions have a first-order effect on stability and can collapse supercritical cycles regardless of Ignition Input level, provided the reduction is sufficient to bring the total gain below its critical threshold.**

Explanation

A Class 2 intervention turns down one of the three knobs inside the internal loop that drives mimetic compounding. Knowledge Patch training reduces how strongly the Decision Hub acts on the mimetic signal. Observability-feedback governance reduces how strongly realised choices translate into environmental Salience. Salience engineering reduces how strongly environmental Salience drives new mimetic signal. Any one of these can collapse a supercritical loop back to stability if the reduction is large enough. The same logic runs at the slower layers: enlarging the Hypothesis Space and holding Belief open reduce the gain the Bayesian layer contributes, and Patch-competent reading of what others express reduces the gain the network contributes.

Epistemic status

Proposed Intervention.
