Predictive Superposition Principle
Canonical definition
A sincerely held prediction occupies a superposed classification state, neither Confabulation nor verified Belief, for the interval between its formation and the expiry of the Decoherence Time of the domain it concerns, collapsing to Confabulation if it resolves false and to correct Belief if it resolves true. In unbounded-Decoherence-Time domains the prediction never collapses, because no world-constraining truth-value is available, and a prediction that cannot be settled is not a prediction but a tautology with a time-stamp. The Predictive Superposition Principle is a consequence of applying the Decoherence Trichotomy to Beliefs whose Referent is a future state of affairs rather than an existing one: until the Decoherence Time of the domain arrives, the prediction is sincere and the truth-value is pending, placing the Belief in a classification state that the truth-axis criterion alone (which governs Confabulation) cannot yet resolve.
Explanation
A genuine prediction is sincere (you hold it for real) but the world has not yet had the chance to say whether it is right or wrong. Until that moment arrives, the prediction is in between: you cannot call it a Confabulation yet, because the world has not ruled; and you cannot call it a correct Belief yet, for the same reason. It is in superposition between those two outcomes, waiting for the domain to deliver its verdict. When the verdict arrives, the prediction collapses to one or the other. In domains where the verdict never arrives (where there is genuinely nothing in the world that could settle the question) the prediction stays in superposition indefinitely, and a prediction that can never be settled is not a prediction at all but a disguised preference or tautology with a date attached.
