Relational Constitution Principle
Canonical definition
The Relational Constitution Principle is the empirical claim that while each Individual possesses a physically independent body and an independently operating AIM architecture (Decision Hub, Confabulation system, Bayesian updating), the outputs of that architecture (Self-Model, Beliefs, desires, experienced identity) are constituted as much by the mimetically transmitted inputs of other Individuals as by endogenous signals, such that the Individual cannot function as an autonomous foundational unit for social theory despite being the sole locus of motivational processing. This claim rests on five independently verified empirical findings: (1) mirror neuron systems activate preconsciously at 60-340ms, transmitting others' goal-directed valuations before conscious awareness can intervene (Axiom 7 Preconscious Transmission); (2) the Decision Hub integrates these mimetic inputs into a Common-Currency Scalar, irreversibly destroying the source decomposition (Axiom 3 Source Opacity); (3) Confabulation generates post-hoc narratives attributing mimetically-acquired desires to autonomous origins; (4) ventral striatum encodes relative rather than absolute rewards, constituting Status as a fundamentally relational quantity; and (5) the wanting-liking dissociation permits mimetic amplification of approach-motivation independent of hedonic satisfaction. The Relational Constitution Principle is therefore not a philosophical position, a metaphor, an ideological commitment, or a metaphysical claim. It is a structural description of how the architecture empirically operates, falsifiable if any of its five empirical premises is disconfirmed.
Explanation
You are physically one person. You cannot be divided in half and still function. Your brain runs its own Decision Hub, your body has its own appetites, and your architecture operates independently of anyone else's. But what that architecture processes (the desires it integrates, the Beliefs it updates, the Self-Model it constructs) is demonstrably, measurably shaped by other people's inputs, at speeds faster than consciousness, through mechanisms that destroy the evidence of their own operation. This is not a metaphor about interconnectedness or a philosophical stance about the nature of selfhood. It is what the neuroscience shows: mirror neurons fire within the Transmission Window, the Decision Hub integrates the signal before you are aware of it, and Confabulation covers the tracks. You are the processing unit, not the explanatory atom, and the evidence for this is neural, behavioural, and independently replicable. Falsification Conditions: Would be falsified if (a) mirror neuron systems do not transmit goal-directed valuations preconsciously; (b) vmPFC integration preserves source tags in the output signal; (c) Confabulation does not occur reliably when subjects identify motivational sources; (d) ventral striatum encodes absolute rather than relative rewards; or (e) the Reflection Problem is resolved by better instruments demonstrating that preference is cleanly partitionable into autonomous and social components.
