AIM Framework glossary

Reverence

Canonical definition

Reverence is avoidance of an Individual held at positive Relatedness: the other's gain counts with the Individual's own, and the other is read as a power before which the Individual holds back. The Agent-Type Vector reads Reverence as Collaborator-weight and Predator-weight together. Reverence keeps the Individual within the relationship while holding the Individual back from the other, and it turns to Dread where Evidence shows the revered Individual's gain to be the Individual's loss.

Explanation

Reverence is the awe you feel toward someone powerful whose good you count as your own. You hold back, but you do not leave.
