Source-Attribution Confabulation

Canonical definition

The sub-case of Confabulation in which the Hypothesis concerns the motivational source of a present desire and is wrong because the Mimetic Hypothesis was unrepresentable or under-weighted in the Thinker's Hypothesis Space (the Vocabulary Gap or Hilbert Collapse). It is the output Ground-Resolution returns on the source-attribution special case: the evidence is the Decision Hub's tag-stripped Scalar, the Hypothesis Space does not yield the Mimetic ground, and the attribution therefore defaults to the best available Appetitive or Intrinsic Hypothesis and is returned with the confidence a correct attribution would carry. Completions in this sub-case preferentially attribute to Appetites or Intrinsic Motivation and systematically avoid Mimetic attribution (Disaggregation Convention 2), which is the asymmetry that drives the Authenticity Belief toward certainty rather than toward an unbiased posterior. Source-Attribution Confabulation is the proximate mechanism of Object Parasitism, scapegoating, and the Confabulation Cascade. I-Override is the same special case run deliberately against this outcome.

Explanation

This is the ordinary case in which an Individual gives a sincere account of why they want something and the account is wrong. The wanting arrived with its source-tag destroyed, so the only material available to explain it is the list of explanations the Individual holds, and social copying is usually not on that list. The engine returns the best remaining answer, a real need or a genuine interest, and returns it with full confidence, because nothing in the operation registers that the right answer was missing. The failure is not in the reasoning. It is in the list.
